Covid-19 Care Packages

Crime, poverty and unemployment. These are only some of the social ills that South Africa is facing. All of these puts a strain on the economy and day to day living conditions of individuals residing in the country. While these are all things to be worried about, it is nothing in comparison to the current crisis we now face on a global scale in reference to the outbreak of Covid-19, otherwise known as the carona virus. The virus which is said to have originated in Wuhan, China has now found its way into South Africa and could very soon be reaching millions due to its high infection rate. The government, aswell as various health institutions have sent out a request for all citizens to practice good hygiene by washing hands with soap and using alcohol based hand sanitizers. The problem we face as a country however is that most families do not have access to clean drinking water, let alone water to practice their daily tasks. The recurring drought and water shortages have already crippled food production and added to an already strained economy. It is only logical that in the absence of water, this disease is likely to spread at a much more vicious rate.
