This time I am working on a childcare project and volunteering in local care centres/orphanages, baby day care centres, pre schools and kindergartens. During my trip I will be working with up to 100 children at a time between the ages of 1 and 6 years old teaching basic English and maths and assisting with the general running of the centre and daily chores such as cooking, cleaning, helping with farm work, caring for children and babies and assisting with meal times.
In my spare time, twice a week I plan to also sign on to the Kiberia Slum feeding programme to take part in assisting impoverished communities within Kibera Slum, the second largest urban slum in Africa, and visit members of the community who have established income-generating projects, such as woodwork, sewing and jewelry making. The program focuses on providing much-needed food and nutrition to impoverished families living in the slum. I am so excited for my new adventure
