Cottage Roof

I bought my little 1870's era Cottage, with 802 square feet, about 10 years ago.  I am a single female senior citizen and just need to get a ROOF TO STOP THE RAIN coming into the attic, and gutters to keep rain from coming into my "rubble" basement.  I have put down paint cloths and tarps in the attic to collect the rain so far.  The roof has THREE layers of old roofing, including the original "thatch".  There is no sub roof plywood "decking".  I have just begun getting reliable estimates for a new roof and all three are well over $10,000 (this is one fifth of the whole home value!).  I am unemployed and can't do the work.  I was told the soffit and facia is old thin loose and rotten wood that looks like interior door moulding, half the gutters are gone, the other gutters leak and hang very loosly.  I was always a hard worker, but do not have a big pension income like some people.  I do not know anyone who can help me out.  I really need help to get a new roof with the edges finished to keep squirrels out.  I will handwrite a personal Thank You if I receive an address of the donor.
