Costa Rican Immersion Trip

I am in 8th grade and enjoy singing in choir, being in school musicals and plays. I am in student council, National Junior Honor Society, and Jazz choir. I love school and really enjoy spending time with friends and being in a series of different fun clubs!

One of my favorite classes is my Spanish class. I have been taking Spanish for two years and have really enjoyed the culture immersion part of the class. Our class is taking a Spanish Immersion trip to Costa Rica in the summer of 2018. It will be an amazing opportunity to learn how to cook, live, and go to school like a traditional Costa Rican child. Our class will join local kids at school, encouraging each other in English class, singing songs and playing games together.

Other exciting parts of the trip are built to experience the beauty and culture of Costa Rica and serve people in need. I will be hiking in the jungle, visiting small villages, and going to local farmers markets and craft fairs. In addition, I will be volunteering at least 15 hours of community service work, building bathrooms and fixing up schools for less fortunate children.

I will be in Costa Rica for 12 days learning and having a cultural experience that is rare and unique. This is going to be an unforgettable opportunity for me.

Now to the hard part. I need your help!

I am working hard to save my money -- I’m babysitting, doing extra chores -- and my parents are going to help out too. I’m also reaching out to friends and family like you to ask for your support in making my trip possible. Anything you can donate is worth it!
