Costa Rica Turtle Project

Introduction

Hey everyone I'm Crystal i'm 18 and from New Zealand. I have a big interest in helping out animals and people so i applied to volunteer along the costa rica coastlines helping out with the endangered Olive Ridley, Leatherback Black and/or Green turtles and i've been accepted!

Why they need help?

These species' populations are in sharp decline due to over-harvesting of eggs, beach development, fishing, pollution, and being killed for their meat and leather. I will have the chance to make a very big contribution to the presevation of these species helping local communities carry out conservation work, i will be able to help out biologists, interns and locals who are involved. I will gain so much information and gain alot of skills. We may take part in nightly beach patrols, monitoring nest temperatures, monitoring the hatcheries, digging nests, measuring beach profiles and helping with reforestation. Alot of people sometimes forget that yes people all around the world need help but these amazing animals need help too. That is why I've chosen to spend 2 amazing, eye opening weeks there. I honestly cannot wait for next year, i think i can make a really big difference and its all i want to do is just to help animals and people in need.

Why I need help?

I have been looking at flight prices and its a bit pricey, so i need your guys help. I have to fundraise flight money over there and the fee which covers meals and accomidation costs. I will need to save like crazy but i do believe i can do this. If you want to you can donate to help me get there and help out, i'm not at all forcing you too or saying you have to but if YOU want to then that would be lovely. If you don't have the money or simply just don't want to donate it would be really helpful if you could share this post around because i do need help to do this. It would mean so very much! :)

If i don't somehow raise enough money i will still try my hardest to find a way to do this trip, those people and animals need help and i'm willing to give it. It will be such an amazing trip and knowing you've helped will be a great feeling.
