I will be visitng Costa Rica for a placement for two weeks in Occupational Therapy service trip. As many of you know, I am very intrested in working as an Occupational Therapist in the future. The more I think about working as an OT the more I want to work in an abroad setting. So being in this setting for two weeks is going to be an incredible experience. The OT placements include a school for disabled children as well as other projects. Volunteers will work with program coordinators to arrange and run workshops and classes in the following areas: knitting, cooking, horticulture, arts and music. They will also provide general help to the individuals attending the school such as assisting during class time as well as helping with daily physical therapy activities. Volunteers may also help with seminars aimed at the families of the autistic children to help them better understand and cope with the condition. Individuals attending the center have physical and mental disabilities of varying severity and need individual attention and care. Thank you for supporting me!
