Costa Rica OT Volunteering

I’ve been accepted for an excellent learning opportunity in Costa Rica! But I need your help to get there

The Occupational Therapy Program there needs help providing services to children with a wide variety of issues. Unfortunately, the program is significantly understaffed with Occupation Therapists. As a student volunteer, I will get to practice my skills, patience and understanding of intellectual diversity in an international setting.

Skill experiences will include:

-Work with program coordinators to arrange and run workshops in the following areas: knitting, cooking, horticulture, arts and music

-Provide help to school students such as assist during class, as well as daily occupational therapy activities

-Assist with seminars aimed at families of the autistic children to increase their understanding and ability to cope

This is an amazing opportunity for me to experience two things I want to do as a future OT and two of my greatest joys, working with children and being involved in the Spanish speaking community. I would love to begin with these children in Costa Rica who are in need of assistance.

I’m asking for any donation you can give to help with food, travel and accommodations. I'll be going from August 9th to the 22nd and will be in San Jose. My target goal is $2200. Every dollar donated will be split with half going to that and half to the clinic I'll be working at. Thank you for your support!
