Hello! I'm going to volunteer in Costa Rica starting from the 1st July until the 23rd July. I will be helping native sea turtles on a nearby Island!
Unfortunately, money is hard to come by. As a gap year student, I've been focusing on internships this year and haven't had too much of an opportunity to work full time or even part time. I'm now working part-time but it looks unlikely that it will be enough to cover the expenses of the volunteering endeavour.
"Human activities have tipped the scales against the survival of these ancient mariners. Nearly all species of sea turtle are classified as Endangered. Slaughtered for their eggs, meat, skin and shells, sea turtles suffer from poaching and over-exploitation. They also face habitat destruction and accidental capture in fishing gear. Climate change has an impact on turtle nesting sites. It alters sand temperatures, which then affects the sex of hatchlings."
If you could send me any funds my way be it small or large it would be well appreciated.
Thank you so much,
- £1400 for the flights (economy) + return
- £700 for the actual 3 weeks of volunteering
- £400 for additional expenses (insurance, etc)
