Campaign Story
Hello everyone, I am a Hongkonger, a kindergarten teacher. The following is the appeal of UNHCF, please help out!
The virus has left few places untouched, spreading throughout the world at a speed that no one could have envisaged and transforming our daily lives in a way that few imagined. While it is clear that the virus does not distinguish between nationality or race, the fact is that some of the most vulnerable people on the earth, the over 70 million refugees and displaced people, are even more vulnerable at a time like this.
“COVID-19 pandemic has brought many aspects of life to a standstill – but wars and other crises have not stopped, and humanitarian action to save lives and alleviate suffering remains imperative. UNHCR is on the frontline of prevention of coronavirus in refugee communities. Please support our work to help protect more refugees with essential life-saving assistance to cope with this global health crisis.” - Philip Thorpe, Senior Protection Associate and Officer-in-Charge of The UNHCR Sub-Office at Hong Kong SAR China
With small amounts of money, vital emergency response can be mobilised to provide basic healthcare services, cash assistance for families to acquire soap, disinfectants and medicine, and infrastructure including clean water systems and sanitation facilities where it is needed most..
Please help today to ensure we are prepared and can do all we can to contain this emergency.
Most donors right now are giving US$ 350 or more
- US$15 provides primary healthcare services to a refugee in low-resource setting six days per week, support 24/7 emergency services in camps through nurses and ambulances to ensure referral of urgent cases
- US$100 installs a tube well providing clean water to refugees in camps
- US$ 500 provides cash assistance to 5,000 refugees enabling them to purchase hygiene (e.g. soap, disinfectant, and medicine) and core relief products who are at risk for contracting COVID-19 and cope with viral outbreak
- US800 sees the construction of a water and sanitation facility including communal latrines and toilets in classrooms
All the proceeds from the crowdfunding will be donated to UNHCR, and I will upload all the receipts here. Thank you for your support
