Emily Calhoun and Ambur Staab are students researching at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are focused on the interactions between salt loving microorganisms and salt tolerant plants along the shores of the Great Salt Lake. No research has been conducted in this unique ecosystem, showcasing the need for Ambur and Emily's research. They have recently been accepted to present at the most prestigious conference for research regarding salt loving organisms called Halophiles 2019. The conference will take place in Cluj-Napoca Romania in June of 2019. Presenting at this conference will allow Ambur and Emily to share their new and exciting research with the larger science community and help them network with other scientists who can help progress their project forward. Travel expenses are a large barrier for these two new researchers as funding is limited for undergraduate students. Please consider donating to help cover travel expenses so that these two ladies of the lake can help show the world how beneficial our Great Salt Lake is.
