Contractor Ruined Our Wedding Plans

My fiance is my ex-husband.  Yes, that's right, my ex-husband.  After being divorced for over 10 years, we have found our way back to each other.

We originally wanted to have a quiet small wedding, but our grand children were so excited about their grand parents remarriage, that it has turned into much more than the quiet small wedding that we had planned.

My fiance is a subcontractor and after winning a bid on a project, we found that we would be able to have a larger wedding which would include our children and our grand children.  But, with two thirds of the project completed, the contractor, we have discovered, had already received the money to pay his subcontractor's, but is refusing to pay them and wants the church (the add on project was for a church) to pay him more in order to pay the subcontractor's.  Yes, you read that right.

So now we are so disappointed. I have not had the heart to tell my oldest grand daughter that we no longer can afford the wedding of "her" dreams. Plus we have already lost the thousand dollars that we put down to hold the venue.  We intend to go the legal route with the contractor, but in the mean time, we would love to be able to share this wonderful day with our family, especially our oldest (9 years old) grand daughter. The amount I am requesting is less than what we had planned. But it would give her memories that will stay with her a lifetime.
