Slovenia has a small, but growing Contact Improvisation community, supported by volunteer work of few enthusiasts. Last July we (again) organised a CI festival in Ljubljana and at that time also hosted an exhibition on CI (by Romain Bige). A part of the exhibition was 2 weeks free acces to all the Contact Quarterly journals, which we borrowed and offered for reading in Slovenian Dance Archive. We realised how precious those materials are and understood that we need much more time to be able to read them and use them in our dance practice.

At the same time we got to know that the journals will now stop coming out in its physical form. That's how a wish came up - a wish to buy all of the issues of CQ (as long as they are still existing on paper) and keep them in our Dance Archive, where they would always be freely available for reading! Apart from organizing weekly jams, classes and labs, occasional workshops and a yearly festival, we believe that reading CQs is an important part of the practice as well and that it strongly supports the developement of a growing CI community.

As the events we organize in our community are non-profit, we don't have the budget to afford buying the set of journals by ourselves. So we ask you for support - every little help will make a difference!

What is Contact Quarterly (CQ) ?

Contact Quarterly is a contemporary dance magazine established in 1975, with a focus on improvisation and performance. In addition to its periodical publications, the magazine sponsors symposia, workshops, and other programmes to support of contemporary movement arts. It is recognized for its role in supporting the "contact improvisation" dance movement.

How much do we need to buy the CQ entire collection ?

The entire collection cost 600 €

As CI Slovenian Collective we are devolving the entire money collected as offers from the jam organization from September 2018 till now. At the moment the amount of this offers is 192€.
We had already a donor that have donated 50€.

So at the moment we have already raised for the cause 242€

Where you can read the CI collection after we have bought it?

At the moment the Slovenian Dance Archive is hosted at MSUM+ Metelkova Museum of Contemporary Art.
It's possible to access for free without paying the ticket of the museum, just saying to the reception that you are going at the first floor just to visit the archive.

The museum is open TUESDAY - SUNDAY 10am - 6pm.
