Global Youth Service Day is taking place on the 11th to the 13th of April, and Youth and Society in Mzuzu have been asked to represent Malawi for this fine event as partnership with Youth Service America. We will be constructing a much needed public library in Msongwe Primary School, which will give access to educational resources in the local community. The project is expected to benefit a population of 4000, who currently have to walk 7 km to the National Library, thereby limiting not only their access to educational information but also impinging on the consitutional rights to information, education and development.
Currently the community has donated land where the library will be constructed as part of their commitment and contribution. All that remains is the resources required for the project. We therefore appeal for support so that this project can be achieved.
Youth and Society (YAS) is a ‘Youth and Child centred’ Human Rights and development organisation with a mission to fight poverty among youths and Children in Malawi. We advocate for “An End to Youth and Child Poverty in Malawi”.
