I am currently 16 years old and I am raising funds to enable me to go to Mexico with Operation Wallacea in July 2016 along some other students from Gosforth Academy. I know you may be thinking this is a long tiome away, but half of the funds have to be paid this year. (Total cost £2500) I will be helping with conservation and research in the Calakmul Forest and Reserve for the 1st week and then either Akumal or Xpu Ha Marine Site for the 2nd week.  For further information about Operation Wallacea please visit their website at www.opwall.com Operation Wallacea offer a fantastic oportunity for students to gain an understanding of the bio-diversity within the forest and marine life including the ecology and biology of coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove forests, bird surveys, large mammal surveys and carbon biomass and habitat surveys.
