So at the end of October, I will be in the Philippines. Having of had over a week there, i will be ending my time doing a Voluntary project with IVHQ (international volunteer HQ). I will be joining a team of people who work on environmental rehabilitation: planting and restoring mangroves and beach habitat, litter picking and assisting with the cleaning of their beaches in Asia. Lastly i will be teaching children the importance of the environment and the implications that litter and plastic have on their beautiful beaches working on community projects.
It is a once in a life time opportunity, one i feel compelled to. I have paid the majority of the fee, however they also recommend and would like applicants to fund raise. any and all donations are welcome. I will als be accepting donations at my Art exhibition ( https://www.facebook.com/events/2313911965535591/ )and the proceeds will help go towards the trip.
But Esther....Why go abroad when you can make a difference at home?? i hear you ask..... Having an active role in litter picking my own beaches for the last 4 years and striving for zero-waste the last year. i'd like to extend this to a country which has been said to be in crisis from western litter. Asia being one of the main places Western countries send their litter. i'm going to see it and add my ten pence. Doing 2 things i love; travel and community/environmental projects. (for all the cynics i know what about co2 emissions!! the air miles will be offsetted)
Many thanks and much love to all those who have and continue to be pillars of support!
