Connections in Connecticut

So I woke up this morning to the most amazing news...

I am one of the eight people chosen to take part in an amazing creative retreat this August in Norfolk Connecticut!

This is a huge honor and a huge deal for me; only eight people are chosen every year to go, and the retreat offers a chance for creative people from all over to meet, learn from each other, and make connections for their future.

...as you can see, I am the only person listed who isn't lucky enough to live on the American continent. That makes things a little tough.

Here's where you come in!

If you could spread the word, drop a dollar or two my way, or help me garner as much attention for the project as possible, it would be absolutely invaluable to me!

I just need some help getting the tickets to fly me from lil' ol' NZ over to the big US of A (these clock in at just under $2,000 in my currency) because I've been granted an accommodation scholarship at the retreat itself!

I also understand that just giving money for the sake of money is never easy for a lot of people, and because I'm a writer, I'd love to throw a story your way for a donation, so see below for what sort of word counts I can offer (realistically) in the time frame we have.
