Update posted by Kojo Johnson On Aug 15, 2015

I want to issue a special thanks to those who've helped us so far! I'm sure others know that even the smallest contributions matter and were planning to but just forgot. Please take this time to click on the link for Connecting Communities Through Capoeira and make a contribution from your heart. Together we can do this! Vamos La!

Ever determined to reach our goals, we have renewed our campaign! Now with only 17 days left in this new campaign we want to show that we are a caring global community. Capoeira is a remarkable vehicle for bolstering resilience in communities where conditions are marginal. St Croix with it?s rising poverty rate (above 78%) and crime. Dominica, devastated by floods in the wake of Tropical Storm Erika. Most of us never have to worry about these conditions in our day-to-day but we can do something about them. While we can?t turn a light on in every home, we can turn lights on in every heart we encounter. Capoeira is for everyone. Let?s see how this African-Brazilian legacy that?s changed so many lives in Brazil and abroad can touch hearts and minds in the communities we?ve committed to. We thank you for all that you?ve done to support our work with these children and their communities. Please make an effort today to get

Greetings to all of our supporters! I want to thank you for seeing the importance of what this work is about and simply taking the time to contribute! In total $260 was raised toward our modest goal of $3,500. We still have a very long way to go. These funds will go toward in-country transportation here in Brazil and towards the next fundraising effort. Even though this campaign has drawn to a close please stay linked as this drive continues until Programa Vamos Vadiar is able to make a difference in the lives of children in DC, Bahia-Brazil, St Croix, and Domenica! Please feel free to share information about this campaign with freinds and family and visit my facebook page www.facebook.com/kojojohnson.fica for a running update on my work with Vamos Vadiar and FICA St Croix! United, we can do anything! Um abraco forte!

These are the programs that truly uplift communities, but get very little recognition and even less funding. Kojo has spent his life dedicated to educating and building capoeira programs locally and internationally. His generous efforts and tireless community-building activities has given countless children the opportunity to be nurtured and to grow strong mentally and physically through Brazilian Art, Play and Musicality. Please join me and donate to this very worthy cause!

Thanks alot for your support! As you can see it hasn’t been easy but I am proud to be representing in a small way the legacy of my Mestre Cobra Mansa. It was he (along w/ Mestre Moraes, Mestre Jurandir, and Mestre Valmir) who taught us the importance of uplifting and "educando" the youth through Capoeira.

I support the spread of Capoeira as taught by Mestre Cobra Mansa whose intentions are as pure as pure can be.
