Conference Attendance Bursary

My abstract has been accepted by the International Federation on Ageing Global Conference on Ageing slated for Bangkok, Thailand in June this year.

My paper presentation is entitled " Older Women Victims of Witchcraft Accusations: a case of Zambia" Older Women are accused of practicing witchcraft in the rural and urban parts of Zambia especially as they reach advanced age. And contemporary stats indicate that older women outlive the men folks making older women more susceptible to dementia and otherrelated brain disorders. The symptoms that manifest in older women living with such conditions make them prone to witchcraft accusations and are subjected to all forms of blatant abuses that lead to killing of accused older women.

It is in light of the above context that I humbly request colleagues and friends including the general public to donate towards this cause as I present this Paper to the outside world through this conference. By so doing I will be exposing the vices effecting older women in Zambia and beyond. Hopefully a lasting solution may be found through wider dissemination of this Paper Presentation.

The budget estimates for this conference is as follows:

1. Airfare : $1300

2. Accommodation/Hotel: $550

3. Travel and medical Insurance: $150

TOTAL : $2000

The support will make our communities safer for older people as I continue to advocate for their rights and creating awareness and allowing older people to live dignified lifestyles and age gracefully. That will definitely me a happy person.

Any donation made to this effect is significant as no donation is too little to change, challenge, transform the world.
