Computers for Top Gigante Students

In 2012 Party Wave donated a used laptop computer to a high school graduate working on our staff here in Playa Gigante, Nicaragua. This year we'd like to take it one step further and provide more targeted assistance to higher education. Many students in Nicaragua graduate Secondary (High School) with few computer skills and severely limited job prospects. Even basic familiarity with a computer as well as access to email and social networks can greatly increase an individual's employment opportunities. Today education is so important but hinges so heavily on access to information and resources but with only a computer and internet access, essentially all the world's information is at one's finger-tips.

In 2013 Party Wave, with the assistance of Project Woo, hopes to raise money to buy two netbook or tablet PCs (with keyboard) for the students from Playa Gigante who graduate high school with the best marks. In addition Party Wave will provide basic computer tutorials including typing classes as well as free WiFi access for life. It's our hope that the two excellent students will go far in their studies, careers and the world but whenever they return to Gigante they'll be welcome at our little café.
