I will begin with my sob story. I was born into a world of chaos surrounded by drugs and deadly weapons. My mother was subject to abuse and disregaurd while my biological father remained no where in sight. The man who signed my birth certificate was, and still is, nothing more than a loser and a deadbeat who took advantage of my mother every chance he got. As a deprived and unappeciated child, my mother turned to abusive men which led her to drugs. That caused her to lose custody of my older brother and sister. Being the strong woman she is however, my mother realized she needed to do whatever it took in order that her three children have the best chance possible to progress and succeed in this rough world. I was about ten years old when she realized drugs weren't the answer and she made a stanch effort to clean herself up and get her life in order.
In 1998 the man I refer to as my step father got out of prison and became a big part of our lives. Together him and my mother made sure my siblings and I were well taken care of. Upon the passing of his mother he inherited $100,000 or so. As a team, he and my mother turned that into over $500,000 buying and selling property. It wasn't until about 2007 that he decided to make an about face and start treating my mother like dirt. He began to blow all the money they made on hookers and low lifes not to mention the gambling. Seeing where this was headed, my mother made sure to obtain a peice of property and have it put in her name. Shortly there after she cut her losses and gave him the boot. If she hadn't, she would have come down with an STD and would have surly been dead or dying by now. He, being the low life he turned out to be, ran off with the $400,000 that was left from what they had made together and blew it within 4 years. Recently my step-father e-mailed my mother crying about the fact the he is now broke and needs a place to stay. He should have thought about that long and hard before he began cheating on her and blowing the money they worked so hard for. We were the only stable thing in his life and he just walked all over us.
Since the blow up between my mother and step-father in 2007, I have been my mother's sole caregiver, working odd jobs and doing the best I could. I havn't been able to invest in any of the newer technologies that have emerged since 2007. That is where you come in. I am here to ask for funding so that I may build myself a new computer/workstation. I am working on a website for our 8mm footage. My grandfather and grandmother went on many trips around the world during the period of 1940-1970 and took along with them thier 8mm camera filming everything from the Eiffel Tower of Paris to Waimea Falls of Hawaii. A sample clip can be viewed at 8mmstock.jakestreasures.com. It is a clip of Frontier Town of Montana in 1946 taken by my grandfather and as he pans the camera to the right my grandmother and great aunt come into view in the distance. I have also designed a custom flash player (from scratch) through which to view the over 4,500 clips we have. The player has zoom and pan functions to allow the quality of the video to be examined. I say "our" and "we" because my mother had over 10 hours of this 8mm footage digitized years ago. She is most certainly the biggest part of this project and without her insight I would have nothing to work with. In detail the funding will be for the following.

Microsoft Windows 8 Pro - $200
Adobe CS6 Production Premium - $1600
Intel Core i7-4770 CPU - $320
Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 Motherboard - $115
4x Corsair 4GB 1600 - $140
XFX Pro Series 1250W Power Supply - $250
2x Crucial Technology 512GB SSD HD - $800

Raidmax Agusta ATX-605BT Case/Tower - $140
GeForce GTX 690 Video Card - $925

---------------------------
Total - $10,625

---------------------------
Grand Total - $12180

As it stands, my obsolete singe-core Pentium 4, Windows XP systems (pural) cannot even run the programs of CS6 such as Premier Pro or even Photoshop for that matter. Your help in meeting my funding goal would be tremendoulsy appreciated and would most certainly not be forgotten by my mother and I. In advance, Thank you so very much.

NOTE: The Paypal Fee of  $1075 is based on 2,436 $5 donations ($12180/$5=2436;2436*$0.445=$1084.02). If and when I receive donations larger than $5 I will lower my goal accordingly, but only when the difference reaches a $5 increment. Albeit unlikely, a single lump sum donation of $11440 would allow me to lower my goal by $740 hence my goal would be met as the paypal fee would only be $355 and the fundraiser fee would reduce to $460. Being realistic, let's say I were to recieve a single $85 donation. I will lower my goal by $5.30, the $0.30 being put off until the next $5 increment. A donation of $10 will lower my goal by $0.70 which would then be added to the $0.30 remaider of the forementioned goal reduction and so on. Furthermore, I would love to be able to accept $1 donations, but the paypal fee would be an astronomical $5000+ if I were to recieve nothing but $1 donations. Unlikely, but still enough cause for me to set a minimum donation limit of $5. I just want it to be known that I'm not trying to be greedy. I know this may be confusing to some, but as a mathematician I can't allow donations less than $5, not even $4.99. I can however accept any donations above $5 say $5.01, $7.50, $11.33, $28.72. You can count on me to do the math neccessary in order to reduce my goal so as not to go beyond what I need. Thank you for your understanding.
