Our family faces another hardship, our dad, who we have always seen as our superman was recently diagnosed with Stage IV liver cancer. He lives by himself in the Philippines where the medical system is very different compared to Canada.

A couple of years back, our dad complained of his shoulder and hip pain. One day he suddenly felt nauseous and got into a motor accident but the X-ray results only revealed osteoarthritis and vertigo. The pain continued to debilitate him to the point that he can no longer perform any daily physical activities. We begged him to get to a hospital as soon as possible to get some tests done. The scan results came back with fractured bones and that he needed to undergo surgery immediately. The same night, our uncle called us and told us the truth - our worst fear was confirmed. Our dad’s doctor were reluctant to give him the prognosis without an immediate family by his side. Without hesitations, my sisters and I packed our bags and flew back home as soon as we can to be with our dad.

His daily life is consisted of unimaginable bouts of pain in his hip and legs that will extend from minutes to hours. Our goal is to lessen his suffering through palliative care. When he’s not in pain, he is full of hope and faith in God that He will heal him. We are holding on and staying steadfast to our faith that His will be done.

We wish we can have him for a little while longer, but opinions from other doctors are not giving us any hope. He cannot undergo any surgery as the cancer has spread to his lungs, spine, and bones - the reason why he is now immobile. We can only wish for our dad to have a comfortable life from here onwards. We wish for his remaining days to be as comfortable and less painful as possible and this may seem impossible without the help of all the people who love and care for him

From an emotional and relational standpoint, we would choose to fight this battle with him until the very end, but financially speaking, we must to continue to provide for his mounting medical bills since the medicines and procedures are not cheap in the Philippines. We are faced with one of the most difficult trials anyone can ever imagine.

All your donations will go towards our dad’s palliative medical bills. Please continue the prayers and getting the word out there about this GoFundMe page. Thank you all so much for the many kinds of support were are receiving. The generosity displayed from everyone who has donated is incredible and we cannot thank you enough.
