Campaign Story
We are a church in the heart of Arequipa, Peru. As a church part of our ministry is to help the people here. Right now because of COVID-19 things in Arequipa are bad, it has affected thousands of people. We are still in quarantine until the end of July. Many people here live on a day to day basis. There have been individuals and families going hungry these last 4 months. As a church we have gathered and handed out provisions on multiple occasions. But there is still so many families going without.
Right now there are 15,000 infected, 372 have passed away and hundreds hospitalized. Praise the Lord for the little over 6,000 that have recuperated. With these numbers it is no surprise that the hospitals are collapsing. Many of the doctors and nurses have been infected and have been unable to work leaving things even more challenging. Even with the hospitals in their current state many people continue to go hoping to be attended to. Sadly they are met with a different reality.
Here is the story of a friend of ours who is currently trying to take care of her mom who is fighting the battle against COVID-19. The first time she took her mom to the hospital they wouldn’t even see her saying she was a patient with many risks and sent her home. She continued to get worse at home so it was back to the trenches and praying that she would be attended. When they went back to the hospital they waited all morning to finally be seen. They are going to treat her with IV antibiotics for three days. She is in the beginning stages of pn

August
Update posted by Jessica Strickland at 01:35 amThe month of August has been a busy one. Each week we had an activity whether it be hot meals or bags of nonperishables. A pastor from another church here has a business of cleaning supplies and he donated 200 bottles of hand soap and hand sanitizer. The first week. . . . .
Fase one
Update posted by Jessica Strickland at 01:05 amOn Thursday the 16th we did our first round of nonperishables for multiple families in an area called San Miguel. We were able to give baskets to 22 families and it would last them around five days. Sammy and the leaders from our church were able to share the word. . . . .
