Campaign Story
Recently, in connection with our local library, my organization hosted a skills training fair. The turnout was not as expected and now I've taken the time to "rethink" the project.
Although the company representatives showed up and offered some tremendous programs from a 14-week culinary training programs, restaurant training program, recovery programs for line cooks, CNA and nursing program, programs for people with felonies and others, it didn't reach the people that need it the most. All the programs were free programs.
I've got to go to the people. And, that is to the streets. To the rehab centers. To the ministry servicing them. On the trains. The bus stops. Where they are selling smokes. Block-by-block where ever they may be.
The funds from this campaign will be used to produce a special jobs training and skill building newspaper with programs from as many as 30 free job/skill training programs in the issue.
With these funds, I will also be able to produce multiple copies of the individual programs to distribute block-by-block, where most needed.
Yes, I realize that this is all on the web. I'm a social media specialist.
But, we've got to go to the people.
That is my mission.
