We are the Brilho do Cristal Community School and we have been, for more than 20 years, in the Capão Valley, a small town with about 3 thousand inhabitants in the Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil. We work for an autonomous, creative and emancipatory education.
Currently, we guarantee the constitutional right of access to education for more than 90 children. We do not belong to any governmental public institution. We manage the school collectively (parents, teachers and members of the community) and our financial support comes from contributions from parents, partner institutions and collections at events promoted by the school-community.
This campaign funds will be used to make infrastructure improvements to the Brilho do Cristal school facilities, including reconstruction of 3 classrooms and 2 bathrooms, library renovation with addition of a media room, cafeteria enhancements, and replacement of old blackboards with whiteboards.
Funds in excess to the project implementation will be used in additional improvement projects and ongoing operations.
Although our financial reality is very precarious, we trust that working together we can overcome this challenge. And today is our request: help us to guarantee an autonomous, creative and emancipatory education for our children!
