Community ChildCare

Hi, my name is Keithia Williams, and I am currently attending school for Early Childhood Development.  Childcare has long been a passion of mine, and I have finally found my calling.

This summer, I will be purchasing my first home, and I plan to build out the bottom floor into a Day Care for children 12 and under.  It is my dream that I will be able to set-up a partnership with the local Department of Economic Security here in Phoenix in order to ensure that all children receive proper childcare, regardless of their parent's income.  My facility will open early in the morning to allow parents to drop their children off on their way to work, and stay open late for those parents in the food service and other industries that do not work a typical 9-5.  I strive to develop a curriculum that will enrich these children's lives, and prepare them for their first day of kindergarten.  With enough funding, we will be able to build a play-ground out of our back-yard, purchase a van so that we will be able to pick the children up in the morning, and drop them back off in the evening, and to purchase the toys and school supplies needed to establish a successful Pre-School/ChildCare facility.

Our decision to turn our home into a ChildCare facility serves many purposes, including:

• One mortgage/lease payment every month for the home and business
• One utlity payment
• It will allow us to maintain longer hours as we will be able to eliminate the need to "close up" every night, and drive home
• It will allow us to develop and maintain more personal relationships with the children and their parents
• It will improve the stability of the business by allowing it to grow along-side our home

While we know that we would be able to start this business without too much outside funding, it will make the entire process easier with extra capital.  The $25,000 request will allow us to adequately child-proof our entire home, and build out a suitable space for the children to utilize, including the play-ground.  It is our dream that they will be able to play and learn on our first floor, while our living quarters remain separated on the top floor of our house.
