Campaign Story
Compost is the primary fertilizer of choice for farmers in many developing countries, including India. Compost is cheap and very accessible. Furthermore, compost is made from waste material, enabling the upcycling of waste byproducts into a productive resource.
However, compost takes a variable time to mature, and it is difficult to track all the factors that impact the maturity of compost. Additionally, if immature compost is applied to soil, it might immobilize certain nutrients. The scale of this problem is huge. In fact, of the 150 million farmers in India, 96%, or 144 million, have or will use compost on their farms. Of them, 90%, unfortunately, have no data about their compost, putting 130 million at risk of soil immobilization just in India.
To solve this problem, I created ComFORCE. ComFORCE is a hardware- and software-based solution that with the help of sensor inputs, and machine learning is able to analyze the quality and maturity of compost. On top of that, ComFORCE also offers users 23 different prescriptions to augment the quality of their compost.
I aim to raise ₹88000/$1065 to build and distribute 10 models of my device to rural farmers in my state. If I get an additional ₹66000/$800 of funding, I will be able to increase my community outreach
