Colton’s Wish to Walk

Colton Neu is 13 year old boy who has high hopes and dreams. His top two career choices are either becoming a neurosurgeon or becoming a NBA coach. The boy loves basketball and science. He also has a knack for student government. For the last two years, he has been voted Vice President of the Student Council. He actively goes to a church group on Wednesdays and volunteers for many functions. This year he graduates 8th grade and so much wants to walk across that stage. Such a bright young man he is! Despite having Cerebral Palsy, he has much determination. In 2011, he had Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy where the doctor opened his spinal column and cut the "bad" nerve rootlets. Three months later, he underwent another surgery to lengthen his heel cords and hamstrings. With those surgeries, he was able to gain some mobility using canes and small independent steps. However, he has now developed flatfoot deformity and requires additional numerous surgeries to correct the deformity called flatfoot reconstruction surgery. Given the family's circumstances, they are unable to provide the traveling costs, as they are traveling to another state where the previous surgeries were performed, and they are looking for help in providing everything they can to help their son walk, drive (someday), or have any chance at a normal life. Without the surgeries, all the previous surgery he has had becomes useless. He will end up in more severe pain, arthritis in teenage years, and most likely back in a wheelchair. Help us by helping him be able to walk across that stage this year to receive his diploma! His first surgery is scheduled for 2/16/2016 with many returning trips and another surgery just a few weeks later in April.
