Early 2016, after noticing a lump on the side of his neck, our father decided to go in for his routine check up, doctors told him it was a tiny cyst, and that he will need to have it removed, he had a minor operation where the lump was taken out. A year later he noticed the pain had came back, as well as the lump, now in several areas of his throat. After taking a ct scan and biopsy, results came back that he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, cancer of the (head and neck).

He then took off from work due to the extent of the pain. During the first week of Dec, 2017 he noticed blood as he coughed, he was then flown to Nassau where he was admitted into the hospital only to be told that his tonsils had ruptured, as a result of the amount of blood loss, he would have 2 blood transfusions and another scan, results came back showing the tumor at a larger size than before which meant the cancer was moving very aggressively. He was scheduled immediately for surgery a few days after.

December 12th he had another blood transfusion, shortly after he underwent an extensive surgery to remove all cancerous cells/tumors, after a long 6 hour operation, the surgery was a success.

Now in the healing process, he will have a long way to go as he will be taking radiation treatments after his throat is healed.
