Hi, my name is Lisa and I started college when I was 32 years old pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems. I am from a small town and college was not something that was encouraged or even discussed in my household or high school as important for my future. I am the first of my immediate family to attend a University and will be a graduate in the Spring of 2014. At the beginning, I never thought this day would come; taking only 2 classes each semester over the past 11 years has been a long journey, but today I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I did not qualify for any financial aid except for student loans. Although my job paid for one class per semester I have still racked up a lot of student loan debt.
I am starting this fundraiser to help pay off my student loan debt and hopefully help other adult females pursuing a higher education as an undergrad not eligible for scholarships.
Please give to this cause and support higher education students fulfill their dream of obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
Update: On May 10, 2014, I graduated from Tennessee State University. In addition to my diploma I received the Merit Award from the College of Business. This was an unexpected honor.
