Campaign Story
My 70 year old Granny is as healthy as they come, except for the fact that she is in desperate need a heart operation. It's a minor operation that will save her life. The only thing stopping her from having this operation is money. She lives in Zimbabwe. She is a single mother who has worked hard all her life, starting off at Barclays Bank at the age of 16 and retiring one a successful woman with savings, a house and a retirement fund. She lost everything when the currency hyperinflated and the economy collapsed. Her Barclays Bank pension fund now pays her out just over $100 a month, enough to do a weekly shop. Needless to say, this international company hasn't looked after its retired employees. Colleen picked herself up and began supporting my parents in their family business. In return they supported her.
But life in Africa takes its toll on a family. My father left 5 years ago, leaving her and my mother with me and my 3 brothers and sisters and since then things have gone from bad to worse financially. She remains one of the strongest and most positive women I know, even when the letter from the doctor came through. After her first heart attack, he said 'its unlikely she will survive a second'. The simple insertion of a stent into the weak point in her artery is the only answer. She has never asked for help. She has always looked after herself, contributed, been there for everyone else. Now she needs us to be there for her. This is a woman who has done everything in her power to make the world a better place, my world a better place. Please help me send my Granny to South Africa for this life saving operation.

The end of the beginning...
Update posted by Tyla Martin at 10:22 amDearest supporters - I am taken aback by the generosity we have experienced during this fundraising process. Granny Cole has decided not to have the operation at this time. She feels that she is not strong enough and it may lead to further complications. Also we did not manage to
