Hello my name is April Sassin my brother who is 25 broke down on the ohio turnpike going to work in west virgina and while parked on the side of the road a semi truck driver hit him at 74mph he broke 12 ribs on his left side, 1 rib on the right, broke his left shoulder blade, broke his sternum, slipped his t2 through t8 discs in his back and shattered t5 and t6 discs leaving him paralyzed from t5 down. We are battling auto insurance waiting for them to open the claim and medicaid won't cover anything auto accident related, so in other words everything is out of pocket for him until auto insurance decides to pay a 12 to 18 month wait according to his lawyers. We currently have to pay for all medications and medical needs out of pocket. He needs a wheelchair that is going to cost $6700 from quality home medical equipment. He needs his medications to survive costing roughly 350 a month. He is living with me and my daughter here in linden and I have had to reduce my hours at work to care for him 24/7. We are not asking for money or handouts. What I am getting at is we are teying to do a fundraiser for him asking people to donate garage sale items so we can have a garage sale fundraiser to try to fund some of his costs so we can lesson the stress and burden and make sure he can get the care and items needed for him. I have the police report information feom the accident, 1400 pages of medical records for him, lawyers contact information, and auto insurance information if you would like to verify our story is true.
