Hello, and welcome to my project. CO Monthly, the local paper for local people, will be a tool to not only inform and educate, but also entertain. I live in Coboconk Ontario, Canada, population 800. Mind you, it draws from a huge surrounding area, and in the summer is a huge and desirable get-away destination. Fact is, having lived here all my life, I can attest firsthand to the fact that we are in serious need of a small, but nevertheless monthly-published paper to connect locals with theh many on-going events and functions that take place each and every month in the area. We are blassed to have some wonderful and generous clubs in our mist, namely the Legion and the Lion's Club. The Legion, of course, serves a deminishing number of veterans, some who get out only to visit the Legion. They take part in many annual functions, and are a highly regarded and treasured group of people. My father was a member for many years, having served in our Navy during World War Two. Spending months aboard the Navy's Corvettes, they struggled and battled the mighty Germans and their lethal U Boats (submarines). Dad would not talk much about his experiences, having been on two ships that went down and having seen shipmates and friends die around him. The Legion is a club that relies on functions and dues to survive. It needs help each and every day to raise the funds needed kust to survive. My paper will aim to better inform people of the many wonderful and fun functions and events that take place on a regular basis at the Legion.  One common theme here is that while talking to various people is that it seems that many are not aware of privy to the many events and functions that take place on a weekly basis. My paper will aim to meet and fulfill that need, one of informing locals and keeping them up to date. The Lion's Club also serves a major need in the area, and again many events and functions go ignored not by choice, but due to the fact that people just aren't aware of the event or function in the first place. These two clubs need and deserve the support  I plan on giving them. Maybe the most important of our clubs is that of the Food Bank. This club, or organization, is a vital and much-needed asset in the community. As we all know, times are tough, and sometimes just finding money to buy groceries can be a challenge for many families. we are so lucky and blessed to have such a wonderful tool at our disposal.  But again, far too often, I hear of the many on-going events and functions that the Food Bank partakes in, or manages, to help bring in more much-needed donations from local merchants, and people as well. As an example, our yearly Santa Claus parade, a wonderful and fun day, is often missed by locals because they are not aware of the date it takes place. As well, most that do attend  are not aware that it is highly wished and desired by all taking part in the parade that all people attending bring something to donate to the Food Bank's float that is in the parade. In return, our kids are innuated with lots of neat toys and treats from the local merchants giving generously to the watchers. The Legion then host a get together with Santa himself for kids up to the age of 10. These kids meet Santa, and get a great gift to open. This is a special and magic day, and one where both the Fodo bank, and the Legion serve a big part in, and need our help and support to do again next year. My paper will serve as a tool to let everyone know what is happening and when. I know that I can help these clubs to better serve our residents, and to help them be rewarded with more donations and members. It is vital that we all help these clubs so that we do not see them close, as seems to be happening in so many communites these days.  As well, we are home to a great Public School, Ridgewood, where my two sons attended up to Grade 8. This is a fun, hip school, with great teachers who truly care.  I plan to cover this school on a regular basis, and to publish the names of students who participate and take part in the many different functions and clubs within. I know myself that over the years, I would have loved to have seen my kids names in print after taking part in track and field, graduating, or whatever the occassion. Our kids deserve to be lauded and noted for their acheivements, win. lose, or whatever. It's the fact they participated, not how they do, that matters. I know that all parents will treasure and cherish every time they see their son's or daughter's name in print. I already have the school's word and committment to email me everything I need to know from month to month. It is just up the road, and I will be taking picutres of events as well, to include. In the end, this paper will serve so many great and worthy causes. Myself, I suffered a massive herat attack in November of 2010, and am totally 100% disabled. I hate where I am today, and miss working so much. It is not a great life living on disability support payments. Just buying groceries each month is next to impossible after paying my bills. We di not even have a Christmas this year, and keeping my spirits up is not easy. I have begged doctors to let me go back to work, to no avail. I am not medically able to do much of anything. I have a defib/pacemaker in my chest to be ready for my next "event". It paces me,. and I dread when and if the defib will zap me. I am told it really hurst. Anyways, this paper will afford me the opportunity to seek out advertisers who I know will gladly come on board once they see the finsihed product. Therefore, it is my intention to try and raise the funds needed to print my paper for the first couple of months without any advertising. This will offer us a chance to get the paper out to the public, and let potential advertisers see what it is they will be advertising in. In time, I hope that the paper will become cost-efficient, and hopefully allow me to make a small and modest living, which will allow me to provide for my family. Being disabled is a humbling and degrading experience, and it is one that scars you for life. I do not want sympathy, but rather your support to help me get my paper off the ground. I am using what little I can come up with, money I have from selling anything I own that is worth anything at yard sales, or online.  I need your help to meet the financial requirements, and to get this project up and running. I hope you will see the good in this, and that you will be so kind as to support me in my quest to get this going. I thank you for your time, and hope you do not mind that I have no fancy or flashy video to show you, but I hate the way I look and prefer to just address you through print.
