For just under two weeks at the end of March, we will travel as a select group of 5th year students to the village of Malealea in Lesotho as part of our African Immersion Experience. We are the workforce once we get to our base at Malealea. We make our contribution in Lesotho by doing whatever the local community asks us to do rather than telling them what we think might be good for them.
Our Families will bear the cost of our travel and accommodation so we can insure all proceeds you make will go directly to the people of Malealea. We hope to be open to learn from the Basotho people and return home enriched by their welcome after having worked hard over the experience. There are urgent year-long needs for which the people rely on us for financial support – e.g. education/housing/health and that is why it is extremely important for us to be able to make a significant contribution annually .
So we write to ask for your generous help to enable us to bring, in addition to our presence, this essential financial aid to people who struggle every day to make ends meet. No amount is ever too small and no amount is ever too big. You can be sure that every cent will go to the Malealea Community itself.
Please be assured of the gratitude and prayers of ourselves and of the Basotho people, who have this lovely saying:
Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu – people become people thanks to other people.
