Campaign Story
After fracturing my T12 vertebrae on 31st May 2018, I have decided to take on the challenge of climbing to the highest point in every Irish county within one year of my accident! Initially this idea was for rehabilitative purposes; starting with the low ones and gradually building my strength to climb Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil on the one year anniversary of my accident ⛰️
On further planning, I am so delighted to collect some donations for registered charity Spinal Injuries Ireland; which luckily I did not require services from. Oh, how different it could have been! A spinal cord injury is one of the most devastating and life changing injuries that a person can sustain, and I am so thankful each morning that I am able to feel my toes when I wake 😁 Injuries like mine don't usually have such happy endings with quick recoveries; Spinal Injuries Ireland is the only support and service agency in the country for people who have sustained a spinal cord injury and their families; providing a person centered service to assist people to engage fully in society.
Please keep up to date with my journey to each county top on the dedicated Facebook page. The last few months have been a roller coaster of extreme emotions for me, and an incredibly character building experience 💪 So far, each summit has brought on the waterworks either on the hill or on reflection afterwards for a huge variety of emotions....I am excited (and a bit scared) to share them with you!

Well done Clodagh, you have worked so hard to get yourself back fighting fit since last year. We wouldn't expect anything less than the level of determination and tenacity you have shown. Thinking of you with every hike I see on FB and wishing I was there too. Best of luck with the last few, you can do it!! Love Rachel xx
