Hello, my name is Yoseline Castillo and I am an outdoor educator living in San Francisco, CA. For the next 6 month of my life, I am devoting my time & energy to raise money in support of a non profit organization called BAWT to able to provide gear and assist many youth experincing the outdoors for the very first time.
Since 1999, BAY Area Wilderness Training has been providing resources such as training courses for outdoor educators, gear loans, and community support to serve more than 40,000 youth, families and adults entering the outdoor world. This past summer, I was able to experince an opportunity of a lifetime of going to Alaska and completing a NOLS backpacking and kayaking trip. As an underserved youth of color at that time, I struggled with my gear deposit due to my financial status and was connected with BAWT who were able to lend me gear for FREE. It made a huge difference in my trip, I felt supported and didnt have to worry about buying expensive gear out of my pocket to be able to camp in comfort in the seasonal wheathers of Alaska.
Having experienced that, its important for me to give back to my community for future leaders of younger generations to be able to experince the same level of comfort in the outdoors that should always be acessable. Your generous donation will support my trip of climbing Mt. Shucksan, up in Washington which is said to be one of the most spectacular peaks in the Cascade range for a great cause of providing many future families with the gear acessability and resources to experince the outdoors wherever. All your donations will go directly to Bay Area Wilderness Training. Lastly, thank you for supporting future youth outdoors, anything helps!
