Climate Protest Crowdfunding

Our protest to demand climate action is coming up on the 20th of September 2019 and we rely on the support of our community. We need financial help for more effective campaigning and organisation (poster printing, microphones & speakers etc).

We are currently a team with no budget and we do not accept funding from political parties or business. We are aware that we have chosen the difficult way of fundraising, but being transparent is essential! We do not want to be instrumentalized and we do not support parties or any organisation for anything in return.

Therefore we need your support!

Even a Euro and a single share of this fundraiser is enough.

Who we are?

Youth for Climate is a youth based team regardless of background and political ideologies, which strikes alongside with 110+ countries to demand climate action. We are uniting around the sole purpose to tackle climate change and the lack of response from the government within our community, as we, the new generation, are the most vulnerable. Due to the inactivity of the Cypriot government, public authorities and Parliament, Youth for Climate advocates towards the fight for an actual future and a liveable earth.

Our demands are that the government:

1. Aligns its targets and policies: they currently do not meet the greenhouse gas reductions necessary for limiting warming to +1.5°C,
2. Dedicates resources: the necessary resources to achieve the aforementioned targets are not in place,
3. Focuses on education: public schools’ curriculum do not teach about climate change.
4. Take greater action towards eradicating plastic pollution and restoration of polluted ecosystems.
5. Take action through social means: climate change is a phenomenon that is yet to be tackled with the means of society in Cyprus
