We (Sam and Aidan) are undertaking the Cleveland Three Peaks, an almost 20-mile walking trek, which is a circular cross-country walk incorporating Eston Nab, Roseberry Topping and Highcliffe Nab.
We are aiming to raise money for Allison House, which is a specialised Alzheimer's and dementia care home based in Teessdale, Stockton-on-Tees.
Mum (Janice) was diagnosed with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease in June 2013, at the age of 53. Mum dealt with the condition (that we now know to be Alzheimer's) since the age of 49, and required 24-hour care and assistance since the start of 2012.
Unfortunately, in November 2014, Mum's illness had deteriorated so much, and her needs had become so complex, that the family home environment was no longer suitable. As tough and as difficult a decision as it was, she moved into Allison House care home, who have been simply faultless from day one.
Allison House is run by Cleveland Alzheimer's Residential Care, which is a registered charity, both of which are 'not-for-profit' organisations.
We have taken it upon ourselves to raise money for Allison House, in order to provide much-needed funds for the development and upkeep of the care home. We can't thank the nurses and care staff at Allison House enough for the care and support they provide (boxes of biscuits just don't seem to do them justice!), not just for Mum, but all the residents.
We are hugely appreciative and grateful for any donation, no matter how small, to the cause. Thank you.
