The images you are about to see are of what used to be a flowing river some years ago. It lead from the town all the way down to the village and connected with another river.

However, in the past couple of years the river has dried up and since became nothing more than a landfill, hosting a wide range of junk, pollution and litter.

I took these pictures a few days ago to show you just how awful it looks now. Countless shopping trollies, bottles, cans and other litter now fill the once flowing river. At one point I even saw an oil drum.

Recently Cumbernauld's wilderness has become overgrown and somewhat dangerous to walk through. The river itself is now a overgrown, junk-infested bombsite.

Here are some pictures to show you what i mean.

Absolutely disgusting, right? These images show what is left of the once flowing river that would run all the way to the village and join another.

The name 'Cumbernauld' means 'Where the two rivers meet" in Gaelic. These days we aren’t exactly living up to that name.

We must have this river cleaned up! Even if we can turn it back into the river it once was, we need to clear out all the junk and litter that is ruining our environment.

Please donate what you can so that future generations of Cumbernauld can enjoy the splendour of its wilderness, just like i used to.
