1.3 billion people lack access to electricity, close to 1 billion are drinking unsanitary water, and 4 million people, mostly women and children, die annually from indoor air pollution due to burning wood and charcoal for cooking. Rural cooperatives or CBOs, created by members of the community, know these problems well.

In this environment, ENVenture works with people from all over the world to help those CBOs in Uganda and start clean energy ventures (selling at a very affordable price products such as solar panels, non-electric water filters, improved biomass cookstoves, and fuel briquettes that will help the development of the community). They want everyone in the rural villages to easily access a quality affordable clean energy product for their home without having to travel to the closest city.

But who are we? We are two students in Paris volunteering with ENVenture and helping an organization named Camkwoki Grass Root Initiative for Development in Lira, Uganda to have access to clean energy.

Description of the Community based organization that we are working with:

Camkwoki Grass Root Initiative for Development Limited was founded by Aroma Patrick during the emergency period, when the Internally Displaced Persons began returning to their homes following the progress of peace talks in Juba in 2007 between the Government of the Republic of Uganda and the Lords Resistance Army. The organization got legally registered with Lira District Local Government and National NGO Board -Ministry of Internal Affairs Kampala as well as is incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee by the Registrar of Companies in 2011. This was also in response to Government's Policy of helping people who formed themselves into groups.

What is our mission? How are we helping CAMKWOKI?

We want everyone in the village to have easy access to clean energy by providing the, with different sustainable and high-quality products like solar panels, efficient cooking stoves and water purifiers for their homes, without having to travel to the closest city.

To achieve this, we are working on the business plan of CAMKWOKI for the next year and settling the different objectives to reach and help the biggest amount of people among the community with clean energy products, and also by training the administrative people working in the company to make sure the community will get the products.
Martin went to Uganda for a week to meet the team and study the different communities and their needs, and now we are asking for your help to raise money to help them get to the goal.

The money will be used to:

1) 45% of the total to buy a new vehicle to transport the products and reach rural persons that cannot be reached now

2) 35% of the total to buy new products (cooking stoves, solar panels and water filters) to increase sales and stock rotation
3) 15% of the total to cover the operational cost of hiring two new people who will be in the field constantly reaching new groups

4) 5% of the total to lunch a new web site to improve Camkwoki's chances of asking for financing

For some reasons we don't understand why there are so many inequalities in the world. We are very fortunate to be grown up in a place with access to electricity and clean water, but there are many places where this is not the case and mainly in isolated places in Uganda. This organization will ensure people to have a better future in terms of clean energy access and we will also be here to help them and hopefully you are going to be one of us too!

Please share to spread the word of this project!

Thank you for your donation!

¿Cómo estamos ayudando a CAMKWOKI?
