Campaign Story
Abusir is a village about 30 minutes south of Cairo, Egypt. The air is better here, away from the megacity and who knows how many cars.
It started out for me as a holiday stay. I came to see the monuments of near Saqqara and Dahshur. It ended with Mohammad (photo below on the right) an myself organising a number of people and a truck to collect trash from the streets.
We started by first getting the plastic trash in a small area. About 600 meters of road was covered, and the truck was full.
It was a good day for everyone, a cleaner place, money and pride earned, and one happy sponsor seeing the world get a little better.
There is so much of it, and it hurts. I felt I wanted to do something and proposed the idea to Mohammad. "Sure, it can be done", he said.
It does not take much. Filling up this one truck cost 400 Egyptian pound, about $26. Money well spent. Everyone is from Abusir, they know each other for a long time. That made it so surprisingly easy to organise. It took Mohammad a phone call.
We need to do what we can. And I decided for myself that I can do this. My next goal is to get this one truck going more often, perhaps regularly, perhaps once a week for start. This is why I'm on this platform.
I'm happy for each and every one of your contributions.
Best,
Lutz
