The effects of poverty on children are wide-reaching and can lead to lifelong struggles, especially when young people don’t receive full education.
Poverty and education are inextricably linked, because people living in poverty may stop going to school so they can work, which leaves them without literacy and numeracy skills they need to further their careers. Their children, in turn, are in a similar situation years later, with little income and few options but to leave school and work.

Lauren Memorial School aims to provide opportunities for the needy and orphans in the area of Kabawaala to attain a quality education. The school is in memory of Lauren Patterson who was tragically murdered while she worked as a teacher in Doha, Qatar. Court proceedings are still on going, and we pray that her family gets the much desired justice.

The school currently has 350 children in the age bracket of 4 to 12 years. Most of these children attend their lessons outside under the tree shades, or in the veranda of the few existing classrooms.

Work is going on to construct a 5 classroom block so that all the current children, and the new children to be admitted next year, can have classrooms. The ongoing work is now at wall level .

$10,000 more is needed to put a roof, doors and windows, plastering, painting and general finishing of the classrooms. Thankfully, we have a matching pledge from Awesome Cause Foundation. Every donation made to this campaign will be doubled. Meaning that if we can raise $5000, then Awesome Cause Foundation will give us another $5000 to fully fund the completion of the classrooms. Please help us to utilize this offer.

  • Hello everyone, sorry for posting in another fundraise. We, a group of volunteers team up and organize outreach activities focusing on providing aid to orphanages with whatever resources we have because we want to make a change; we want to give these children a ray of hope despite the situation that they are in. Most of these establishments that we visited are struggling to provide the basic needs of orphans since they are mostly relying on donations from generous souls. Although we have a burning passion to help these unfortunate angels, we are hindered by the limited resources that we have. And because of that, we are reaching out to your kind hearts to lend us a hand. Let’s make them feel that they are not neglected and abandoned. Our main goal is to raise funds in order to provide the basic necessities, education and a loving family for these children. You and I can make a difference. Together, we can pave a bright future for these orphans.
