Hi, I'm in year 2 of a 3 year restoration project on a 1982 BMW 633csi.
I found this "shark nose" beauty sitting on a lawn and have spent more than $7,000 to restore mechanical components. A rare 5-speed sports sedan, with sapphire blue exterior and pacific blue interior, the engine is strong and the car glides smoothly on Sunrise highway and hugs the exit curves securely. I've have restored the original radio to working order, and various interior switches, etc. The original air conditioning equipment works flawlessly, as well as, the sun roof. Some minor interior work lies ahead in phase 3 in regards to carpeting and other sun damaged materials.
Now that the engine and other "performance" aspects of the car are proven strong and reliable its time to turn my attention to the appearance of this classic vehicle I lovingly call "Big Blue". Phase two of the project is the body work which has been estimated at $9,000. Used body parts for this age of car are difficult to find in good condition so fenders and other parts have to be special ordered. There are a considerable number of small dings that have begun to rust therefore sanding and grinding is needed in random areas causing the entire car to be re-painted.
I'm creating this campaign to raise $5,500 towards the estimate of $9,000 to keep this project moving forward. I'm targeting the body work to begin in the fall of 2018 so that the car will be ready for the major contributors to use in the spring and summer of 2019.
Thank you for your interest and support in this project, Stephen.
