Hello everyone. If you don't know me, my name is Evan McGeorge. I live in Chester County, Pennsylvania. About 2 months ago, I took my dog Cinder to the vet after noticing a small limp in her hind leg. When they looked at her, they administered a rapid blood test. With the results, Cinder was diagnosed with anaplasmosis (a tick borne illness). She underwent a Doxycycline treatment over the next month, and the limp got a little worse and then slowly got a bit better.

After a month had passed without her limp going away completely, my dad and I decided to book an appointment with an orthopedic animal doctor in case there was something more serious going on.

On April 15th, she went to get X-rays. The vet saw that both of her ACLs were torn and told us that she would need two separate surgeries. They were estimated to cost between $5,000 and $7,500 each. With this information, I've realized that I can't facilitate her surgery recovery in my apartment due to the 17 stairs she has to go up and down every time she goes outside to use the bathroom. Also, living in an apartment Cinder gets excited by people coming into the building and stands up frequently, something that will be dangerous while recovering from surgery.

I have been planning on renovating my dad's basement into a living space, and now I want to do this as soon as humanly possible in order to create a perfect situation for her to recover. Being in the basement will mute the sounds of what is going on outside and prevent her from getting up fast to alert me, which we were told is a common issue that can cause complications. The basement also has an exit right into the yard, so stairs would no longer be an issue.

If there's any chance that I can prolong her ability to experience new things and play, I will fight for her. I love this dog more than anything. We've spent her entire life playing, exploring, camping, hiking, and socializing. She is basically my daughter. Any help would be infinitely appreciated by me and the many people in my life who love her. Any donations will go towards her new home and the surgeries. Thank you for reading this.
