Campaign Story
Project Design - Vegetable and Fruit Production
This project centres around the creation of a small scale diverse farm that will provide food for the approx. 400 animals located at the Cikananga Wildlife Rescue Centre (CWRC), Java, Indonesia.
The vegetable and fruit production project has the potential to be both financially and socially beneficial for CWRC, and the community of Cikananga. The food produced on-site will save CWRC money whilst extra produce will be offered to the local community, diversifying their food consumption with highly nutritious organic produce. Additionally, the project intends to be a demonstration farm, allowing for the exchange of knowledge related to different farming practices beyond the common agro-industrial model, without risk. The project will select from a few growing methodologies, whilst following a general theme, these include, organic, biodynamic, agroforestry and permaculture.
Additionally, this project would benefit from the support of a local part-time employee. Excluding the funding required for tools and materials we are also in need of financial support to cover salaries. If successful, we could hire a local part-time employee. This will allow the projects to continue once they have been established and when the volunteer project manager leaves.
Thank you ever so much for your time and support. We greatly appreciate it.
About
Hey, my name is Scott, a recent addition to Cikananga’s volunteer staff, Project Manager, tasked with the responsibility of improving on-site sustainability. We are seeking financial support in order to kick-start our sustainability projects, principally the food production project.
Broadly speaking, we are designing and implementing a multi-phase project involving an on-site composting facility, food production area, tree nursery and well water improvements, which would include the local communities water supply. Specifically, this funding proposal is for the vegetable and fruit production project, which includes the composting facility.
