Campaign Story
Hello! My name is Ciara and I am from St. Louis, Missouri. Since I was little, I dreamed about becoming an Engineer. In the seventh grade, my English teacher helped me find some colleges I could potentially attend (It was for a career report at the time) and he told me about Missouri University of Science and Technology and I immediately fell in love with the school after looking into it. So I worked hard in order to achieve my dream of pursing my career. I stayed on honor roll all throughout school. Once I started high school I joined the school's FIRST Robotics team and my senior year I even became Captain. The summer of my junior I applied for my first job working front desk at a hotel, so I could start putting money away for school. In October of my 2014 (my senior year), I applied for Missouri S&T and I was accepted into their Freshman Mechanical Engineering Program.
I begin school this August but due to some unforeseen circumstances paying for my tuition is proving to be more difficult than my family and I had anticipated. Receiving my education in Mechanical Engineering is my dream and it would mean the world to me and my family if I got my degree. I will actually be the first person in my family to attend a University in the United States since both of my parents are from Hispanic Countries. I want to be able to go to school and get a good job so I can help my parents and my family overseas, just like they helped me throughout my life.
