The Orthodox Church of St. Dimitar was built almost 100 years ago, in 1923, in what were then the outskirts of Sofia, Bulgaria. On March 30, 1944, during bombings of the city, the Church was destroyed down its core. It was soon restored, thanks to Christian donations and the hard work of the residents in the neighborhood. Subsequently, the old temple remains as an additional building, with a new and bigger temple residing right next to it. The temple is now a consolation for more than 30,000 people.
Today, in the old building of St. Dimitar is where Sunday School takes place. It is also used for important church events. To our great regret, the building is collapsing. We desperately need the means to get it repaired. The funds are urgently needed because there is a risk for the lives of Christians entering the building. We also stopped children's activities in Sunday School.
We have begun collecting funds, but it's been slow and what we have so far is not enough to start the repair process. We are still in need of 80 000 EUR. We need your help! We'll be eternally grateful for your help, as small as it may be. That, which is impossible for a few, is possible when there are many working toward it. We believe that God will bless this support for His house on Earth, so that we may all find our home up in Heaven.
