Campaign Story
At Chrysalis School, our vision is to enable children with different abilities, to succeed to their full capacity, by finding and building on strengths, offering individualized educational support and teaching practical skills, so that they can achieve their highest level of functioning in their varying areas of ability. Chrysalis is a school with specialized, highly trained staff, catering for children with different abilities, helping them to achieve academically as well as teaching them practical skills providing them with tools to grow into valuable members of the community.
Our core value is accessibility for all. At this point, the overheads and expenses of what we would like to offer our children, means that, to break even, we need to charge high fees, meaning our school is not accessible as we envision. We are looking for donations to assist in paying off our bond and to assist with start up costs, so that we are able to drop our fees significantly. We are also looking for sponsorship for individual children. Chrysalis is a registered NPC.
At this point in time, we are very much in the beginning stages. We have purchased a property, and are in the process of making changes to make it a happy place for the children.
We aim to expose Differently Abled children to socializing opportunities as well as extra mural activities, that they may not have otherwise had access to.
Chrysalis aims to embrace individual ABILITIES, rather than focus on disability. With this approach, we anticipate seeing learners grow in confidence as well as functional ability.
Chrysalis will target the following needs:
1. Children with normal IQ's, who cannot function in mainstream, due to severe ADHD, developmental difficulties and learning disorders.
2. Children with below average IQ's, who need extra support to succeed academically and need to learn skills in order to enter the workplace.
3. Autistic children, who need specialized support in order to excel in a schooling environment.
