Uganda is the second World’s biggest host of refugees and currently home to more than 1m refugees from Sudan, South Sudan, Congo, Burundi, Somalia, and Rwanda.
Many of the women from Congo and South Sudan suffer the trauma of rape, a weapon the armed forces there have been using against women for a long time.
At Kandaakiat, we’ve been supporting the women, offering them hope and teaching them survival skills such as kneading, baking, and creating decorations so that they can put food on their tables.
This Christmas, we would love to surprise these families with food and empower the women with sewing machines and some pads for the teenage girls who normally use leaves as pads while on their monthly period.
I know how hard it is to donate money in our current economic climate, but I beg you to please give what you can....no donation is too small. If we all do just a little we can achieve so much.
