Christian Action for Dependence 2020

The Christian Action for Dependence (Christelike Afhanklikheidsdiens) is a South African registered Non-Profit Organization that consists of support groups that assist people that is directly or indirectly touched by alcohol and drug dependence or abuse. Research has shown that an addict has a direct impact on at least eight other people.

Our group mentors are mainly rehabilitated addicts with the personal experience to help guide and support the recovering user to sobriety.

Every two years a national weekend congress is held for the whole of Southern Africa's groups. For this to happen we need a large venue, professional speakers, food and transport to name but a few. The total attendees amounts to about 350.

Our aim for October 2020 is to raise the funding to be able to hold this conference without cost to our members. As most of our members endured hard times due to their addiction they are unable to attend these events due to the lack of funds.

The past conferences have been true blessings. We see it as a necessity on the path to sobriety. It's a time where people can see that they are not alone and can integrate with other people who understands their situation, where usually they will get shunned by the public. It's a time to learn and get much needed tools for continuous sobriety.

We would like to ask you to support us in making 2020's conference a reality.

Addiction does not choose race, religion or even social status. Your cousin, friend, child or even minister might be caught in the web of addiction without you even knowing it. The CAD's aim is to create a confidential space where the recovering person can come and share freely in a supportive group.
