The Choir of Christ Church Parish Gulu, Northern Uganda, is fundraising for a mission bus to help transport choristers and other Christians to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With our own transport means, the choir will be able to attend to most of the church’s activities and the multiple external demands from Christians and other partners.
The Church is also cash-strapped as the region - recovering from a devastating internal conflict, is one of the poorest in the country, hence this will also help raise money to run church and Diocesan activities, including charity. Your donation will not only help the church, but local communities who benefit from church activities directly or indirectly.
This campaign seeks support from well-wishers around the world to make this dream come true. The funds raised will be used to cover the cost of purchasing the bus, shipping to Uganda, taxes and registration. The total cost is US$170,250 but we have already raised US$5,000 locally. Our deficit is US$165,250. This is a huge sum of money that parishioners don’t have the wherewithal to realise.
In December 2018, the Bishop of Northern Uganda Diocese, The Rt. Reverend Johnson Gakumba launched the fund-raising drive in Gulu where US$ 3,932.74 was raised in cash and pledges.
Since June 2018, the Choir has been selling porridge to the congregation every Sunday at US$0.27 per cup. This project has so far fetched US$1,068.26.
Our success in 2018:
Christ Church Choir won 3 trophies at the International Hymns Festival, in Nairobi Kenya. 56 Choristers performed in this competition and Christ Church Choir came second. We emerged best overall in Psalmody for two consecutive years. The choir was second best in the main piece of the competition sung in Latin. Already, some foreign Choirs are expressing interests to visit Northern Uganda.
